Waterloo District Chapter
Our Multiple Sclerosis Community Centre

Lesley Lynne-Davies, Past Coordinator of the local chapter, and Howard Thompson MD had a dream. They envisioned a gathering place for people with multiple sclerosis, their families, and caregivers - a safe environment where people could find information and support, and where individuals with MS could enhance the quality of their life.
The Waterloo District Chapter was incorporated in 1948. Since then, the chapter has operated mainly out of people’s homes, with a brief time at a location on Spadina Ave.
In September 2005 the dream became a reality. The Multiple Sclerosis Community Centre (MSCC) was officially opened. This barrier-free facility provides a meeting room, offices, and a library with an abundance of educational material. We are committed to providing a secure place for people affected by MS.
Through the generosity of the community of Kitchener-Waterloo and the co-operation of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Ontario Division, the MSCC has become an important part of the community. We have the privilege of being one of only three MS Community Centres in Canada.
There are many programs offered by the MS Society Waterloo District Chapter ie. supportive counselling, equipment funding, health and well being, and recreational. A majority of our programs are offered at the MSCC, although some utilize off-site locations, developed through valuable community partnerships.
